Necessity, the mother of Skeeterbag September 7, 2003. It's been raining for weeks. The mosquitoes everywhere and not to be trusted. Customers are freaking out about all the bites on the puppy"s heads. We can hear the swarms around the house and hovering over the dogs. September 10, 2003. We bought the "XXL Mosquito Terminator Bug Kill Zone 2000," with Dual Carbs and a Hemmi. We filled up at the propane place and let her rip. September 13, 2003. The mosquitoes love the new trap It is like a fun place to hang out between swarming back to the puppies. We caught like twenty mosquitoes. That's $60 per mosquito, plus gas. September 22, 2003 Sid came up with some mosquito netting, duct tape, and a box fan. He put them together, set it by the dogs on the porch to test a theory. 2,300 mosquitoes were waiting for him in the morning August 6, 2003. Our cousin, Mark, who has a couple of inventions out on the market really really liked Sid's trap idea and came to the farm today. He agreed to help Sid put his idea on the market. August 23, 2003 Mark built the prototypes and set them up above the dog houses, by the screen door, by the window in Linnea's room, and by the front door. Dog house traps are averaging 2,500 mosquitoes per night. The traps up at the house are doing almost as well at 1,800 per night. Mark fits SkeeterbagTM with an attachment system that satisfies all design parameters and we are ready to look at production. August 28, 2003 A manufacturer has been located to produce Skeeterbag overseas. Much debate has taken place as to the over-all look of the product. The house is divided into two camps on the subject. Camp one, simplicity. Sid calls for less being more. Camp two, shelf appeal. Mark and the girls call for elegant design features that add to the look. Cost of manufacturing and pure functionality won out over the bling factor for the first run of the product. Simple wins, and we place our order. To Be Continued. |
